show name: what is lost, what is held: 2025–2026 artists-in-residence exhibition
year: 2026
as one of three inaugural artists-in-residence at powerhouse arts, i worked with fabrication studios alpha workshops and public art to kickoff the schematic design phase for itunu — an immersive audio-spatial installation born from grief and paying homage to water. with the ultimate form of itunu taking that of a large-scale textile dome with modular-wave like seating and live performances, i developed skills in and experimented with fibre materials, indigo dyeing and pattern-making, 3d modeling & rendering, and architectural scale drawing.
the culmination was a multimedia presentation of this phase of work consisting of indigo dye tests, structural and material physical models, collaged renderings of found objects, as well as a kinetic moodboard of digital models, 3d renderings, previous prototypes and reference images with an accompanying soundscape. i completed the residency with a refined structure for the dome, overall color & material palette, and estimated construction budget to guide future development.
