mybodymyhome was the official launch of the body: a home for love, a creative healing space for black survivors of sexual trauma. i spearheaded the activation as the experience designer, translating organization’s interpretation of what it means to feel at home in one’s body.
a central tenet of the organization is healing through joy. i started with how i wanted black women to feel — safe. nurtured. seen. beautiful. sought after. and in community.
hosted by lunya, a women’s sleepwear company, the ultimate experience was one comprising of an art installation, a book swap + reading corner, an interactive timeline on exploitation of the black female body, on-site facials, a film screening featuring work by rikkí wright, a panel discussion, and photo set design reminiscent of “your grandma’s living room”.
my work with the body has been featured in vogue and essence magazines.
